Terms of Use

1.1 Acceptance

Access constitutes acceptance. Disagree with anything here and the remedy is to stop visiting. Continued use after an amendment accepts the amended version, as section 13 explains.

1.2 Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or at least 16 if you are located in the European Economic Area. Where you act for an organization, you confirm you hold authority to bind it here.

1.3 No account

The public site runs no account system and no login. You never register, and we issue no credentials. Nothing here creates an account relationship. What it does create is access to a set of tools, described next.

The Face Shape Detector provides 14 browser-based face and style analysis tools, plus articles and methodology documentation. Face tools call the Google MediaPipe Face Landmarker model to place 468 facial landmarks and compute normalized proportion ratios from them. Quiz and calculator tools, including color analysis, body shape, body type and Kibbe typing, score the answers you give.

All processing runs inside your browser. Images are never transmitted to, received by, or stored on our servers, and no photo upload endpoint exists on this domain. Quiz answers are likewise handled locally and never stored. Our privacy policy covers the data we do collect.

Everything is free of charge and funded by display advertising. Any tool, feature or article may be changed, added, suspended or withdrawn without notice, and no tool is guaranteed to remain available. Availability is not the only thing we restrict, though. Conduct is restricted too.

3.1 Prohibited conduct

You must not, and must not permit anyone else to:

• Scrape, crawl, harvest, spider or systematically extract content, data or classification outputs, except that a well-behaved search engine crawler obeying our robots directives is permitted.
• Access the Service by automated means, including bots, scripts and headless browsers, for bulk or high-volume querying of the tools.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise derive the source, thresholds, weights or logic of our classification code, beyond what applicable law expressly permits and cannot be excluded by contract.
• Upload, analyze or process an image depicting any person other than yourself without that person's informed consent, or any image of a child other than a child for whom you hold parental responsibility.
• Submit or process content that is unlawful, that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights, that is obscene, that constitutes child sexual abuse material, or that you are otherwise not entitled to use.
• Circumvent, disable or defeat any rate limit, access control, security measure, consent mechanism or advertising mechanism.
• Interfere with operation of the Service, including by denial-of-service activity, injecting malicious code, probing for vulnerabilities without written permission, or placing unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
• Use our outputs to build, train or benchmark a competing product, or to compile a dataset of classification results.
• Misrepresent those outputs as medical, forensic, diagnostic or identity-verification findings, or resell access.
• Frame, mirror or republish the Service in a way that misrepresents its origin, or remove or obscure advertising.

3.2 Enforcement

Suspected breaches get investigated. We may block IP addresses, apply rate limits or restrict access without notice where we reasonably believe a breach is underway, and serious breaches may go to the relevant authority. One category of breach deserves its own section, because our architecture makes it invisible to us: the images you choose.

Responsibility sits with you, entirely. Because analysis happens on your device, we never see the images you feed a tool, and no technical means exists here to review, moderate, filter or vet them.

You confirm that for every image you process you are either the person depicted, or you hold the informed consent of every identifiable person depicted, or you otherwise have the legal right to process it for this purpose. Consent matters regardless of architecture. In several jurisdictions, biometric or facial analysis of another person without their consent is unlawful, and running the computation locally changes nothing about that. Complying with the law that applies to you is your obligation.

Your device, your browser, any local copies of results you save, and whatever you do with those results afterwards are also yours to manage. Our own property is a separate matter.

5.1 Our rights

Content published here (text, articles, methodology descriptions, tables, charts, illustrations, layout, design, The Face Shape Detector name and logo, and the software implementing our tools) is owned by us or licensed to us and protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property laws. Third-party components, including the Google MediaPipe model, stay the property of their owners and are used under their own license terms.

5.2 Your license

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access the Service, and to view, download and print reasonable amounts of content for personal, non-commercial purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Short extracts may be quoted for review, commentary, news reporting or teaching, provided you attribute The Face Shape Detector and link to the source page. You may not republish substantial portions of an article, sell or sublicense our content, train a machine learning model on it, or use our name or logo to imply endorsement.

5.3 Your submissions

Feedback, corrections, suggestions and contact form messages come to us with a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use them in operating and improving the Service, including publishing a correction note. You confirm you hold the right to send them. We claim no rights in your images, because we never receive them. We claim nothing in third-party content either.

Links here point to third-party websites, and advertising served by Google AdSense and its partners appears throughout. We neither control, endorse, verify nor accept responsibility for those sites, their content, their products, their pricing or their privacy practices, nor for the content of any advertisement.

An advertisement on The Face Shape Detector is not a recommendation. Advertisers hold no influence over editorial content, as our editorial policy explains. Any dealing between you and an advertiser or linked third party is solely between the two of you. One third-party arrangement does run through us, though: the widget.

Where an embeddable version of a tool is available, these terms apply on top of everything above.

1. Embed only on a website you own or control, using the embed code we supply, unmodified, under a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right.
2. Keep The Face Shape Detector attribution, branding and link intact, never altered, obscured, covered, resized to unusability or removed, and never presented as your own product.
3. Leave the widget script alone: no modifying, re-hosting, proxying or bundling, and no direct calls to its internals.
4. Exclude any site that is unlawful, that promotes hate or harassment, that is adult in nature, or that targets children under 13.
5. Publish your own privacy notice and, where required, obtain visitor consent before the widget loads.
6. Expect the same "as is" basis, disclaimers and liability limits as everything else, plus change or withdrawal without notice and no commitment to backward compatibility or uptime.
7. Remove the embed code promptly if we revoke permission for breach.

Those disclaimers and liability limits are set out next.

Warranties are disclaimed to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Service comes "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express, implied or statutory, and we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

In plain terms, nothing here warrants that:

• Any face shape classification, ratio, score, confidence figure, color season, body type or Kibbe result is correct. Each is the output of a stated geometric rule applied to detected landmarks. A different rule produces a different result.
• Landmark detection will succeed on a given photograph. It degrades with head rotation, poor lighting, low resolution, obstruction by hair or glasses, and lens distortion from close selfies.
• Access will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that defects get corrected.
• Any content is complete, current or free of error, notwithstanding the care our editorial policy describes.

Nothing published here is medical, dermatological, orthodontic, psychological, legal or financial advice, and nothing here is an identity verification or forensic tool. Our attractiveness and age-estimate tools are entertainment based on geometric averages and say nothing about any person's health, worth or prospects. Do not make a health decision from a result. Consult a qualified professional.

Some jurisdictions disallow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not reach you. The same qualification applies to the liability limits below.

Liability is limited to the fullest extent the law permits. We will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, opportunity or anticipated savings, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, however caused and on any theory of liability.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service, whether in contract, tort including negligence, statute or otherwise, is capped at the greater of the total you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or 100 US dollars. Nothing here costs money, so in almost every case the cap is that figure.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Consumer statutory rights are unaffected. Where a loss stems from your own breach, the position reverses.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of The Face Shape Detector and its officers, employees and contractors against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or connected with your use of the Service, your breach of these terms, your breach of any law, or your analysis of an image without the consent or legal right section 4 requires. Indemnities survive the end of your access, which we may end for the reasons below.

Termination is available to both sides. These terms apply for as long as you keep visiting. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, where we reasonably believe you have breached them, where your activity threatens the security, integrity or availability of the Service, or where the law requires it. We may also discontinue the Service in whole or in part.

Stop visiting whenever you like. Sections 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 14 and 15 survive termination. Some interruptions, though, are nobody's decision.

Force majeure covers any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control: infrastructure or network failure, hosting or third-party service outage, changes to third-party models or libraries we depend on, power failure, industrial action, natural disaster, epidemic, war or governmental action. We are not liable for those. Nor are we frozen: these terms can change.

Amendments happen. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes are announced with a notice on the site for at least 30 days before taking effect. Reject a change and your remedy is to stop visiting. Changes required by law or to address a security issue take effect immediately, under whichever law governs this agreement.

Governing law is the law of the operator's home jurisdiction, and these terms and any dispute or claim connected with them are construed under it, without regard to conflict of laws rules. Courts in that same place hold exclusive jurisdiction, except that a consumer may also bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence where mandatory local law gives that right.

Editor note: replace "the operator's home jurisdiction" and the matching venue reference in this section with the operator's actual governing law and venue, for example "England and Wales" or "the State of Delaware, United States", before launch, and take local advice on consumer protection rules in the markets you serve.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to [email protected] and allow 30 days for an informal resolution. Most disputes end there. The clauses below apply whatever the outcome.

15.1 Severability

An unenforceable provision is severed or narrowed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest continues in full force.

15.2 No waiver

Failure to enforce a provision waives nothing, and no waiver takes effect unless given in writing.

15.3 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights. We may assign these terms to a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, on notice to you.

15.4 Entire agreement

These terms, our privacy policy, our cookie policy and any notice published on a specific tool or page form the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, superseding any earlier understanding.

15.5 No third-party rights

Nobody other than you and us may enforce these terms. Questions about them go to the address below.

To restate the agreement: visiting https://thefaceshapedetector.net binds you to these terms, you must be 13 or older (16 in the European Economic Area), and no account exists to register for. The Service is 14 browser-based tools built on the Google MediaPipe Face Landmarker model and its 468 facial landmarks, free and funded by display advertising. Images are never transmitted to, received by, or stored on our servers, so responsibility for what you analyze is entirely yours.

Scraping, bulk automation, reverse engineering and analyzing another person's face without consent are prohibited. Our content stays ours; your reading license is personal and non-commercial. Advertisements are not recommendations. Widget embedding needs attribution and our unmodified code. No result carries a warranty, liability caps at 100 US dollars, and indemnities and the surviving sections outlast your last visit. Governing law and venue sit where the operator is established, and material changes get 30 days of notice.
